Living in Dubai means dealing with intense heat, especially during the summer months. While the city’s roads are modern and well-maintained, the extreme temperatures can take a toll on vehicles. Here are the top 10 common car problems caused by the heat – and tips on how you can prevent them.

  1.  Overheating Engines
    High temperatures increase the risk of engines overheating. This can damage engine components and reduce performance. Prevention: Regularly check coolant levels, ensure the radiator is functioning properly, and get your cooling system inspected before summer hits.
  2. Battery Failures
    Heat accelerates battery fluid evaporation, leading to weak or dead batteries. Prevention: Test your battery regularly and replace it every 2-3 years. Keep terminals clean and tightly connected.
  3. Tire Blowouts
    Hot asphalt and underinflated tires are a dangerous combination, increasing the risk of blowouts. Prevention: Maintain correct tire pressure, inspect for wear, and rotate tires regularly.
  4. Air Conditioning Malfunctions
    A/C systems work harder in Dubai’s heat, and they can fail if not properly maintained. Prevention: Service your air conditioning system before summer. Check refrigerant levels and replace cabin air filters.

If you have leather interiors, put good quality leather conditioner (like Gliptone Leather Conditioner) on the seats and all leather parts to stop the leather from cracking.   
  8. Fluid Leaks
    Extreme heat can cause seals and hoses to crack, leading to leaks. Prevention: Check under your car for leaks, inspect hoses regularly, and replace any worn-out seals.
  9. Brake Problems
    Brakes can overheat and wear out faster in hot conditions. Prevention: Get your brakes checked frequently, especially before long road trips.
  10. Reduced Tire Lifespan
    Even without blowouts, the heat can degrade tire rubber over time. Prevention: Visibly inspect your tires for unusual ware and rate. Use nitrogen to fill your tyers if available.
